ARE WE PROPERTY OF SOCIETY?

Could you imagine a world where everyone is the same color, size, and appearance? Well, apparently Mike Jeffries (CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch) would like it if the world was like this, according to his recent statement on May 3rd that is causing an outrage across the nation: “I only want cool, attractive, thin, and All-American kids shopping at my store. That’s why I hire only good-looking people. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely!”
Everywhere we look (TV, magazines, movies and books) we are exposed to this stereotype that being size 0 is the definition of beauty or that using a specific brand is being cool. There are even young adults that are getting cosmetic surgery, because they want to look skinner, want bigger breasts, or even some want “fake” abs. These people are the ones that create or help create that “stereotypical beauty” image that has influenced us all. By any means, I am not saying one shouldn't dress up, look nice, or be fit. No, I’m suggesting that we as a society should stop basing beauty on something so superficial; beauty comes from what you have inside and what you can give to others.
Remember: each body is different and beautiful in their own ways.
