Important Campus Tour Questions You Should Considering Asking During Your Visit
By: Araceli Ortiz

Visiting the different college and universities you are interested in attending is a great way find out if you really want to attend those schools. Campus visits can also play an important role in the admission process as you can also schedule a meeting with an admission counselor during this time. It is important to ask as many questions as possible to make sure those schools are a right fit for you. Here are some questions for you and your parents to consider:
  1. How big is the campus? How many students live on campus? How many live off campus?
  2. What is the quality of majors and minors that this school has to offer? (according to your interest)
  3. Are there a lot of computers available? Does the school offer internet? Do they have computer labs?
  4. What is the student-faculty ratio? Are classes typically small or large? Are professors typically available for after class appointments otherwise known as office hours?
  5. What kind of academic support is available to students?
  6. Does the school offer study abroad programs? What are the typical costs associated with the program?
  7. Are there a variety of clubs and cultural activities on campus? Are there opportunities to get involved in sports?
  8. What does college dorm life look like on a typical day? Do students usually stay on campus during the weekends or go home?
  9. Are you required to live on campus or do you have the option of living off campus after your first year?
  10. Are there students available to can connect with to learn more about college life?
Remember, most of you will be calling one of those campus homes for four years or more. It’s okay to ask more questions!
